Link takes to the skies in the next game of our Best Dungeon tournament. With Tower of Spirits holding down yesterday’s handheld poll, we move to the home console for Skyward Sword. This Wii title experimented a lot with the Zelda formula we had grown used to, with the introduction of one-to-one motion controls acting as its most significant innovation.

What is the Best Dungeon in Skyward Sword?

The dungeons of Skyward Sword made the most of the game’s motion controls. There were plenty of enemy encounters that relied on specific sword strikes, there were a bunch of hidden passageways for the Beetle item to navigate, and many of the puzzles required certain hand movements to solve.

I would say that Skyward Sword also introduced some of the most environmentally interesting dungeons the series had seen in a while. Yes, we had a fire dungeon, and a water dungeon, and a forest dungeon; but the tone and presentation were so fresh and inventive that almost all locations were instantly memorable.

So, it’s time to decide the best dungeon in Skyward Sword.

The Sandship was so much fun,I love when dungeons are based of actual locations and they take full advantage of it,like a tree or a mansion of a ship, plus this dungeon has the amazing time stone mechanic, and the mini boss was great, and it was fun to escape the ship before fighting the boss.Skyward Sword is my least favorite Zelda game, but it had amazing dungeons with unique mechanics that we’ll propably never see again

AC is pretty great and has a memorable boss battle as well.

Voted for Ancient Cistern. But Sandship is no slouch either.

I like all of them, but AC is defiantly in my top 5.

  • Jebradiah Drake

They had some great dungeon OST in this game. I voted for the Lanayru Mining Facility cause I listen to its tune everyday at work.

Am I the only one who didn’t really like the sand ship?
    Lanayru FTW

Why is the inside of the great tree even here? It’s not a dungeon it’s just an area with a bit of extra platforming.

Also I actually really like the fire Sanctuary, so even though it’s probably not going to win I’m voting for it anyway.
