Do you ever have those moments while playing Zelda where your heart pounds, because you are on the edge of victory or defeat? Or, do you ever get so nervous during a particularly challenging part of the game you’re playing? In the most recent entry into the Hyrule Compendium, Mases and I talk about some of the moments in The Legend of Zelda that have had us on the edge of our seats. While we focused on a few situations, there are, of course, many more possibilities for tense moments in the series. Be sure to let us know what you’ve encountered that made you nervous. One thing we discussed was the idea of a live stream setting enhancing the excitement more, so maybe let us know if playing in front of people has ever added to the excitement of your experience.

For some reason I always feel extremely nervouse whenever I play SS and I get to the part with the spirit realms. it’s not that it’s a difficult section of the game, but it just feels really tense for some reason.

Ditto. I’ve actually held off doing them for ages for some reason, despite having completed the game previously!

Running out of stamina while running through quick sand.

I’ve done pretty much everything in BotW, but have I stepped foot in that dark dark wood section that’s permanently dark?
    Nope!
Don’t have a clue what is in there, probably nothing, but I just hate those ‘unknown’ sections.
I’ll have to get round to it soon though. Almost run out of distractions!

You are given a torch. There are statues you can light. If you need more light, light some wood up!

      • Samoflange

Yeah, I figured as much. I’m not even scared of the dark!
I just find that kind of eerie-unknown really unsettling. Even having played OoT countless times over the years, the Well always takes me a few deep breaths! (And that isn’t even unknown any more!)
I think it boils down to simply a Comfort Zone type thing.

It is those Lynus’ that tear my nerves up. I wish I was more coordinated like those in the YouTube vids.
