In the first episode of Zelda Warfare, I established a strong lead during our swordless challenge in the Deku Tree. I may have won the battle, but the war isn’t over. In today’s campaign, we lay siege to Hyrule Castle. We collect a couple Gold Skulltulas, do battle with a Peahat, and Mases now has a new grudge with a giant Stalchild. Mases and I also try our hand at stealth and burglary in our infiltration of Hyrule Castle, to varying…

Breath of the Wild showed us how the Zelda series could successfully evolve in the modern gaming landscape, adapting many different gameplay mechanics innovated in other popular franchises. Though the game demonstrated the charm and polish that only Nintendo could achieve, we can still see how Breath of the Wild built itself on a framework of fresh ideas produced by other games over the past decade. It features the open-world sensibilities of the Elder Scrolls series, the crafting of Minecraft,…

The clouds had parted, the world stood still and the goddess descended from the sky. The volcanic ground dissipated as she touched down on to the ground. The fighting stopped and the combatants looked towards her. None of them were prepared for a goddess intervening, especially the Goddess of Time. I came down with her, held tightly in her hand. Power surged through me, filling me with unbelievable energy. From the distance, I could feel pure malice bearing down upon…

Like any music in The Legend of Zelda series, the overworld theme is an integral part of setting the mood. In this case, it’s typically meant to create a feeling of epic exploration. From the moment you are dropped straight into the world of the original The Legend of Zelda, to the lonely, but natural sounds of  Breath of the Wild, there are many unique approaches these soundtracks take to immerse you in their worlds. In this week’s entry in the Hyrule Compendium, Mases and…

In case you missed it, Zelda Informer has been promoting it’s Best Zelda Ever list and the corresponding contest that went along with it. The premise was simple: the twenty writers that make up Zelda Informer’s writing staff were tasked with ranking their favorite Zelda games from most favorite to least. Those lists were aggregated to form one ultimate list, thus making up our Best Zelda Ever list! You can see the results of that list here. But now that…

It’s finally here! It’s with great pleasure and pride that we at Zelda Informer welcome all you Zelda fans to Zelda Informer’s Best Zelda Ever: 2017 Edition! It’s been awhile since the last time Zelda Informer put together a list like this, and in that time, a lot has happened. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was finally released; longtime editors left, while new editors joined; opinions changed, games aged for better and for worse; and even Zelda…

The Zelda series has been full of rumors, myths, and everything in-between. To this day, people are still combing through the entire franchise, hoping to find something that no one else has. While nowadays Zelda speedrunners are leading that charge, back in the day everyone was trying to find anything just to one-up all their gaming pals. One of the most infamous of these rumors comes to us from what many consider to be the greatest video game of all-time. Slope’s Game…

The Triforce is widely considered to be one of the biggest MacGuffin’s in all of gaming. This key to the land of Hyrule has spanned eons, caused massive wars, and continues to be the driving force for Link, Ganon, and Princess Zelda. There is no doubt that the Triforce has greatly changed the landscape of the Zelda world with each and every generation, but only to those who have truly used its complete capabilities. The video we’re looking at today comes to…

There’s so much to love about Breath of the Wild: the sights, the sounds, the battles, and even the beasts that are sewn into the land of Hyrule. It should come as no surprise that some of the most trustworthy creatures around are the horses. Though I will admit that after a certain point in the later half of the game it was rare for me to use a horse, they were definitely still fun to ride regardless. An in-depth look at…

I must say, I was rather surprised when there were certain weapons that had a higher DPS than the Master Sword itself for The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While there’s the option of increasing the sword’s power through the Trial of the Sword, I didn’t view it as that big of an improvement in DPS. I don’t necessarily believe it should be an all powerful sword, or just obliterate every other weapon, but I had imagined it…
