Latest Updates

Video Capture has finally come to Nintendo Switch. Releasing alongside the console’s 4.0.0 system update, the Nintendo Switch video capture function will allow players to record 30-second video clips in compatible games. Nintendo has uploaded a release trailer for this new feature, explaining exactly how video capture works. Players could always tap the Capture Button on their Switch gamepad to snap screenshots of gameplay. But with this new update, briefly holding the Capture Button will now record and save the last…

The Oracle games are notable for featuring three animal companions with very different special abilities that shape the gameplay. Dimitri is a Dodongo capable of swimming up waterfalls and against strong river currents; Moosh is a flying bear that can hover in the air for quite some time, allowing Link to cross holes in the land safely; and Ricky is a boxing kangaroo that can jump short distances and scale walls with Link in his pouch. Depending on how the…

We have shared some painting videos before, but how about paper craft video? From talented artist Crococraft, today we have a lovely video showing us the process of crafting one’s own personal fairy in a bottle. And what makes this craft unique is that almost all the pieces are made using paper. Watching this video is somewhat relaxing as Crococraft takes each piece of the craft and meticulously glues each together, set to a lovely Zelda remix for background music….

Back in 2011, when the Wii U was first showcased, Nintendo created a tech demo for the game that would eventually evolve into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This demo showed Link entering what appeared to be the Temple of Time only to be ambushed and attacked by Armagohma, one of the bosses from Twilight Princess and a variation of Gohma, a recurring boss in the Zelda series. Aklar_45, a YouTuber who’s been recreating different fights from…

Towns are a crucial element of the Legend of Zelda series. Going all the way back to Adventure of Link, towns provide a nice contrast to the enemy-filled overworlds in the series. Whether it’s meeting new characters, gaining important items or information for your quest, or taking some time out to play a minigame, we like our towns to have some depth. In this week’s entry in the Hyrule Compendium, Mases and I go over some of our favorites. We want to know what you…

With The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild, many of us were surprised when the whole theme of the typical dungeon’s was removed and replaced by the Divine Beasts. What was once a rather arduous (and sometimes hair pulling) adventure became, in my opinion, more about puzzle solving than anything. Such as “How do I get across Vah Medoh without falling to my death?” or  “How am I supposed to connect these electrical lines for Vah Ruta, because this isn’t…

Hello again, everyone. Have you noticed a sudden chill in the air? Have you felt a foreboding presence looming in the night’s sky? These are perfectly appropriate phenomena as we move ever-closer toward Halloween night and our Caption Contest continues to unleash freakish images for your sinister delight. But maybe something spookier is about to arise; maybe we’re seeing the harbingers of the deathly Blood Moon.

The bosses of Zelda are some of the biggest features of their respective games and in many ways have influenced boss designs in the industry as a whole. From the introductory minions like Queen Gohma to the epic final confrontations with foes like Demon King Demise, a boss can be the thing we anticipate most in Zelda dungeons. But what makes a good battle? What makes these encounters so tense or symbolic? Let’s explore these questions while we design our own boss! Feel…

Although no concrete date has been given yet, Breath of the Wild’s Champions’ Ballad DLC is still scheduled to arrive before the end of this year. The story expansion will reportedly take place after the events of the main game, as well as feature a new dungeon. Beyond that information, though, DLC Pack 2 is shrouded in mystery. With that said, what’s the one thing that, above all else, you hope Breath of the Wild’s last hurrah accomplishes? Are you crossing your…

We all know that Ganon keeps coming back again and again (and again) to torment Link, Zelda, and Hyrule. Numerous times throughout the series, we have seen the King of Evil rear his ugly head to wreak havoc on the land of Hyrule. Faring not so well are the secondary villains of the series. Zelda has somewhat fallen into the trap of ‘have secondary villain set things in motion, only to be defeated and never heard from again’. This was…
