• rabbiIn a developer interview a while back, the team at Ubisoft behind the Wii U launch title ZombiU said that the title had evolved from the Killer Freaks From Outer Space game shown at 2011’s E3 conference.  Some thought the London setting was unique, while others believed the game lost its B-movie charm upon the zombification.  However, there was another phase in the shooter’s development before this change.

If the picture to your left didn’t tip you off, the game’s enemies were originally supposed to be Rabbids.  To be specific, Rabbids from Outer Space.  It’s unknown as to why this became Killer Freaks, but it’s likely because the team wanted more creative freedom, which is something that couldn’t be done with the established, kid-friendly Rabbids IP.  In the aforementioned interview, the developers also explained that they didn’t like the Killer Freaks because they reminded them too much of the Rabbids.  While this made some readers scratch their heads, this earlier stage of the game explains just why the devs had this problem.  Additionally, Rabbids From Outer Space was meant to be for 360 and PS3, while Killer Freaks was to be for both those two and the Wii U.  It wasn’t until ZombiU that the game was made a Wii U exclusive.

So, would you have liked to play this game?  Or does ZombiU seem like a change for the better?
