Been itching to get involved at ZI? Think you have what it takes to make our news team and coverage that much better? Maybe you have a lot of ideas for editorials and just want your voice to be heard. Maybe, just maybe, you have skills in other areas that we are lacking. Are you a video editor? What about a decent video host or the capability to create and run your own in house show? What about Podcast credentials? How about image editing skills or the ability to create something totally unique just for us? Well folks, today is your lucky day!
We are hiring all of the above, and whatever else you can think of (comic artists as an example!) to expand and make our site just that much better. Of course, all of these positions are volunteer and there is no promise of any incentives such as trips to various conventions, press access, or the like - but of course that can change over time as you become more essential to the cause. Oh and candy. We give away a ton of free candy. There is one major benefit for working at ZI, but I’ll let former right hand man Dathen Boccabella, do the talking for me:
“Writing for Zelda Informer is so many things. I joined ZI in 2009 as a simple Zelda fan wanting to write some pretty out-there theories. It took me two tries, but I made it aboard. It’s a pretty great place really! You won’t get the sort of creative freedom ZI offers anywhere else.
ZI turned me from that hesitant posting Zelda theorist into a fully-fledged Nintendo analyst. Its staff taught me everything about writing for the web. ZI may be a mere fan site, but it has the tools to be an occasional hobby right through to the first step on your professional career.
Whether you’re after world domination, a hobby, or a career in journalism, write for ZI. There’s not a place more relaxed, and with their established viewerbase, you’ll get noticed. That hesitant writer from 2009 has moved up to a position at one of the world’s biggest sports news site, The Bleacher Report, and it was all thanks to my three years at ZI.
I could say something clichéd like “dreams are possible with ZI,” but to all the budding writers out there I’ll say, “ZI is possible.” Don’t miss your opportunity.
-Dathen Boccabella”
ZI truly helped shape Dathen’s life and career as a journalist (he used us as a reference for his current Bleacher Report position), and whether or not you think that’s a path you want to go down ZI still provides valuable insite into the inner workings of the gaming industry and the media that promotes it. Oh, and candy. Seriously, I cant talk enough about how much candy is given out. It’s glorious.
To apply for any position you can possibly imagine, or even to just submit new ideas for features or things you wish we would try, simply send an email to webmaster@zeldainformer.com. In that email give us your name, your age, what position you would like to perform, any past experience, why we should hire you, and what skills you posses that would make you the perfect person for the job. While we will occasionally give outstanding applicants under the age of 18 an opportunity to work with our team, it is important to know that our staff atmosphere, just like our site itself, is intended for an older audience and thus most of our staff are indeed above the age of 18. That is the cut off age to send anyone to press events such as E3, and as such it’s usually our cut off point for hiring. Again, if you are under 18 you can still apply, but your applications have to be pretty stellar to be noticed. Good luck folks.
