Taking the whole world back to the Famicon/NES days is always fun, because retro gaming is truly a joy (well, for me it is). Games were much simpler, but more importantly games were just about having a hell of a lot of fun. While this console was hardly the grandfather of gaming, it did make it more mainstream by popularizing and reinvigorating the in house video game experience. The Nintendo Entertainment System stands as major turning point for what wasn’t really even considered a mainstream industry in the 1980’s. The fact so many gamers can still get joy out of the games created during that era is a true testament to video gaming’s lasting appeal.
So, for those of us that have delved deep into the depths of the NES library, or for those who have only scratched the surface… what’s your top 5 favorite NES games? Mine are as follows:
There are of course a ton of classics that didn’t make my top 5. From Metroid (say hello, Metroid Wiki... how we miss you!) to Kid Icarus… to the Ninja Turtles Arcade game… it goes on and on. What are your top 5 folks?
