The journey leading up to Skyward Sword was truly an epic one - we had speculations, we had misleading rumors, we had trailers, leaks, articles, images, videos, all the good stuff. However, what most people o not realize is that Zelda Informer is being managed fully by only a handful of people. We barely have four consistently active senior staff members, who spend most of their time working on either the back end (Updating the featured bar, layout etc.), or doing exclusive site material (videos, articles, walkthroughs). Our day-to-day posts are handled by the rest of our staff, and while all of them are amazing, they aren’t around as much as the senior guys. What this amounts to is a rather hectic time when any sort of breaking news arrive, and where there’s a hectic atmosphere, there are mistakes.
I’m of course talking about SPOILERS, or to be more precise, the lack of spoiler warnings.
We’ve had our fair share of posts that featured spoilers in either the title, the header image, or the text itself, without having spoiler warnings in place right away. Of course we did try to cover all of those posts, and given the amount of posts we’ve had, it is safe to say that we did a pretty good job at it. Alas, hiccups did happen, and people got rightfully angry about it. However…
Let’s have a look at a video that I personally recorded, uploaded and published on youtube a few days ago - The Skyward Sword Ending. Obviously, if you are inclined to not watch the video and spoil the entire ending of the game, that is your choice, and you can use a nifty feature that Youtube implemented recently which allows you to do just that - PAUSE the video! What I want to draw your attention to is the comment section of said video. Let’s have a look!
WOAH. what the fuck is wrong with you? I bet your going to be wondering why this still has 0 views tomorrow morning.

Please take this down ZI.
Think of how many people will not buy or play the game anymore because, “oh yeah, I saw the ending already”. Or how many Zelda followers regret that they have been spoiled from this. It’s a damn shame.
Please take it down. It doesn’t really serve a purpose. Not at this time/ in this context anyways. Really inappropriate.
Didn’t watch the vid, unsubbing. Sorry ZI.

Um… wow. Before I continue, allow me to say that I have been with this site since its inception inside of an AIM chat on a murky afternoon. I love and deeply thank every single one of you for making this site’s success possible, for visiting and reading these article. Yes, I do post a lot of trollbait articles and generally tend to keep up my “hates everything” public persona, but I am amazed every day when I read some of the comments and dedication of our readers. That being said - what the FUCK is wrong with you people?
Mind you, the video of the ending was posted after the game was released in Europe. No, it did not have a spoiler tag, it had the word “Ending” in the title. One would think that that would be dead giveaway. A more recent example is the image of the Master Sword in Alex Plant’s latest article. Yes, it’s an image from very late in the game. It’s also out of context and was extremely obvious to anyone who knew the game existed, because the very fist thing we knew about it is that it’s the Master Sword origin story. Let’s not even talk about the fact that the video of the ending has been out nearly a week before I posted my own.
People like the ones quoted above like to throw around the phrase “Do you HAVE to spoil EVERYTHING!?”, to which I reply - yes, yes we do. It’s our goddamn JOB to spoil the game, to report on it, to inform the people about it. Whether or not you choose to read what we write about is completely up to you. I am sick and tired of all the spoiler complaints that persist even past the game’s release. Heck, I even had people complain about Spirit Tracks spoilers in my Top 100 moments video. I’m sorry, but there’s a rule on this sort of thing, you do not get to bitch about spoilers a year after the game’s been out.
I cannot even begin to comprehend people who say to themselves “I do not want ANYTHING spoiled, yet I’m gonna go visit one of the biggest Zelda news sites on the internet, one which has posted several hundred spoilers up to this point, I’m sure everything will be fine”. At this point this whole thing feels like a pointless rant, and I suppose it is just that. Take this any way you want - if you do not want spoilers, do not visit this website. Unsubscribe from our Youtube channel and please just go. Play through Skyward Sword, form your opinion, realize just how insignificant all of the spoilers were compared to the actual experience, then come back and apologize. I’ll wait.
Let me also take this opportunity to warn people that we will stop using spoiler tags in a few months for any Skyward Sword related stuff. Expect images of bosses, major characters etc. to be right there on the front page. Consider this a timely warni- SNAPE KILLS ZELDA.
