Shantae Confirmed for eShop Virtual Console

The ESRB has just listed a rating for cult classic Game Boy Color game Shantae. Developer WayForward had hinted previously about the possibilities of the game being released on the 3DS eShop, but it hadn’t been made official until now. Considering its sequel, Risky’s Revenge, was a huge hit on DSiWare, it seems like no surprise that the game would eventually find its way back to a Nintendo handheld.
WayForward has been bringing quality games to Nintendo’s digital distribution for a long time now, so it will be interesting to revisit their roots. If you’ve been wanting to play this game but haven’t been able to pony up the cash for a rare physical copy of it, then this release is definitely something to look forward to. No date has been given yet, but it will most likely be up before year’s end.
