E3 is less than a month away, and we are already seeing a flood of rumors/predictions that are bound to increase in these remaining weeks.
One of the more juicy rumors involves F-Zero and Super Mario Kart director, Tadashi Sugiyama.
According to the rumor mill, Sugiyama-san is currently working on a game for the Wii U, furthermore, it’s going to be revealed at E3.
There are no addition parts to this rumor; we literally know nothing more than that Sugiyama-san might be working on something. Whether that gives more or less credit to the rumor is up to you.
If the rumor is true, then we can speculate that the title in question could be a new F-Zero title (it’s possible), a Mario Kart title (I extremely doubt it), a new racing IP (maybe), or a completely different game (extremely likely). While Sugiyama-san is known for his work on racing titles, he’s worked on with a wide variety of genres at Nintendo. For instance, while Sugiyama has spent the last several few years producing Wii Fit titles, he has also worked on core titles such as Zelda II, Ice Climbers, Super Mario Bros. 2, Luigi’s Mansion, and Wind Waker. If Sugiyama-san is indeed working on a Wii U game, then it could really be anything.
In regards to Nintendo’s E3 presentation, we know that they will hyping the Wii U to no end and revealing a new Mario and Pikmin 3 (both for the Wii U). While Nintendo will be able to sell enough initial Wii U units on those two titles alone (not to mention all the third-party action the Wii U is going to get), I do expect them to announce at least one or two other big-name titles, which will come out soon after launch.
Readers, what additional first-party Wii U titles do you think Nintendo will unveil at E3?
