I’ve heard that we have quite a few Mother/Earthbound fans hanging around here, but I’m afraid I’ve got bad news.In response to emails regarding a Mother/Earthbound release on disc or on Virtual Console in America, Nintendo’s Customer Support stated that there were no plans to release these games. This doesn’t really come as a shock, as Nintendo hasn’t released anything Earthbound-wise here in America in years. Even if they were, Customer Support likely wouldn’t know until we knew. The email seems to be a standard email for something like this; it looks like they took a template and inserted the series name.
They didn’t say anything about a cartridge release, though, right? So maybe there could be a DS/3DS release? Doubtful, but still something to hope for.
So, stay the course Earthbound fans. You may get something someday…

I can see why you want to see the Mother/Earthbound series released in the Americas, but at this time we have no plans to release them in this market, either on disc or via download. Additionally, we do not have any details regarding why the games have not been made available here, so I’m unable to confirm or deny any rumors you may have heard.
I realize this is disappointing, but your comments have been documented and made available for other departments here to use as they see fit.
