• In a string of Q&As at a shareholders’ meeting, Iwata mentioned that Nintendo was open to studying the possibility for Wii U compatibility/interactivity with the 3DS and DS lines. The Wii U would support two screens and a controller with a touch screen, so why wouldn’t it be possible to support the 3DS XL, for instance, and offers players the ability to use larger screens, and in this case… three screens. Here was Iwata’s answer:

”I am afraid I cannot say anything about your question today. Please let me receive it as your opinion that there is such consumer need and let us study it internally.”

Could the Wii U enable us in the future to play our handheld games on our GamePad and TV Screen? Who would be interested in that kind of interface? Other possibilities that have been mentioned was possible interchangeable content between Wii U and 3DS versions of a game, such as a future Super Smash Bros. title. I don’t personally see the differential factor in working and investing resources into this, but it would be interesting to see what Nintendo can come up with for both pieces of hardware to interact.
