Nintendo E3 2012: LEGO City Undercover for Wii U and 3DS

Nintendo has just announced LEGO City Undercover for both the Wii U and 3DS, with separate stories for each title.
In the games, you will play as a LEGO crimefighter, salving crimes and completing missions with all the LEGO humor. In the trailer, we saw the Wii U GamePad used as a scanner; good for Metroid in the future perhaps? We also saw a warp pipe near the end…Mario cameo maybe?
