• The newest batch of leaked CoroCoro magazine scans have hit the net, and they contain quite a bit of interesting - and very welcome - information about the upcoming titles Pokémon Black/White Versions 2 (still not entirely sure how to phrase that in a way that doesn’t sound awkward). The leaked image reveals new alternate forms for a few of the legendary Pokémon, and there’s apparently some sort of movie theater-type location referred to as “Pokéwood”. The most interesting aspect about this rumor, however, is the inclusion of major characters from prior games in the series - including (but not limited to) Brock, Misty, and Blue. If true (and this is coming from a very credible source), this will doubtless be a major selling point for more college-age gamers who want a hit of nostalgia, and a brilliant business move.

First off, here’s the information on the new legendary Pokémon forms, which are special versions of Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus (aka, the “disturbing elderly genie” trio). These special forms are only available through the use of the 3DS-exclusive AR Searcher feature, from which they can be captured and brought into the game proper. Unlike their hideous and fairly uninspired original forms seen in Black and White, the trio’s new look is actually quite nice - probably because they’re now majestically modeled after animals, like every other legendary Pokémon:

In addition to the new forms for the now (personally) re-dubbed “shape-shifting genies” trio, there was a wealth of information stated by the source of the leak. Note that there are no images to back these claims up, but they seem very likely given that they come from the same source as the scans. The “musical” feature in Black and White is being replaced by something known as “Pokéwood” (no one is quite sure what it is yet), Black and White rival character Cheren has become a gym leader, and there is a special facility where important characters from past games can be fought - including Volkner, Blue, Steven, Misty and Lance.

Apparently the magazine makes the biggest deal about four specific characters - Cheren, Bianca, Brock, and Team Rocket leader Giovanni - all four of which apparently have a more significant part to play in the game. The inclusion of such classic characters from the original games can definitely be marketed as a real selling point for the droves of old Pokémon fans who want a healthy dose of nostalgia.

This information is slated to be revealed in the upcoming episode of Pokémon Smash (May 20th) if the source is trustworthy. We can also expect to see more details floating in about these latest revelations. What do you think of Brock and Misty being put back in the limelight? Make sure to comment away!

UPDATED: Here are the new scans from CoroCoro Magazine, confirming Cheren and Bianca’s return as important characters, along with a plethora of major gym leaders and elite four members from past games. All of the scans can be seen on that link, but here’s the arguably most important (and nostalgic one):
