Fans and pioneers of the year’s gone struggle that was Operation Rainfall - rejoice. Monolith Soft, developer of the Wii hit-JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles, as well as Disaster: Day Of Crisis and the Baten Kaitos series of generation’s past, has confirmed the development of an exclusive Wii U RPG. Monolith Soft head Tetsuya Takahashi confirmed that the game would be developed by the same team who backed Xenoblade.
All we know about the game so far is that is an original intellectual property - that is, it’s not connected to any other of Monolith Soft’s series. A new franchise is always good thing on a new system, so let’s hope Monolith Soft manage to impress when they publicly announce the title in what we can hope will be the coming months. Combined with the HD versions of Dragon Quest X Online and the Monster Hunter 3, it looks as though the Wii U is shaping up to be the definitive platform for Japanese RPGs.
