Xbox LIVE’s SmartGlass functionality has now been detailed by Microsoft at E3. The service will make games, movies, TV shows, sports, music, etc. better by providing double the number of screens for viewing (innovative, right?)
Examples of the functionality include the ability to watch movies on a tablet on the go, then transfer to TV, get updates on movie information while watching on the TV, the phone becomes a remote control, menus for Xbox 360 games such as Halo 4, and more. All of this comes with all tablets and phones, not just Windows enabled devices. Windows 8 Tablets will also be coming out soon with SmartGlass functionality.
From the looks of things, this is akin to the Wii U GamePad, and will be coming out not too soon afterwards, or possibly before. We’ll wait and see how this affects the Wii U.
Stay tuned for more updates.
UPDATE: Here is a video of the functionality for your viewing pleasure.
