Sequels are the lifeblood of the movie industry, so to think Disney would let Wreck-it Ralph go at just one film is lunacy. Director Rich Moore is unsurprisingly planning a sequel already to this year’s box-office hit, and he knows just who the co-star will be: Mario. To clarify, the reason Mario and Luigi were excluded from Wreck-It Ralph‘s premiere title is not because Nintendo’s licensing fees were too high, but rather because Moore and his team couldn’t find the proper role for the plumber.
This time around, things are going to be a little different. “Mario is someone you’ll definitely see in the next one,” says Moore. “We’ll really come up with something good for Mario to do. To be able to present him in the sequel would be great.”
Pretty bold talk for the one pitching the idea. Given his confidence, it seems like Moore is determined to snag Nintendo’s main man this time around, no matter the cost. Likely, we’ll be seeing a pretty decent amount of Mario, and perhaps his brother Luigi in Wreck-It Ralph 2. Perhaps he’ll take on a Mr. Miyagi role, training Ralph how to jump, kart, golf, and Smash his way to victory over the sequel’s villain. Regardless, we can all look forward to seeing our favorite man in red joining the cast for Wreck-It Ralph‘s sophomore stride.
