It’s been a while since we’ve had a full-blown new Mario Tennis game. Where everyone thought the Wii would be perfect for the franchise, Nintendo only managed to deliver a port of the GameCube title “Mario Power Tennis”, released back in 2004. Well, it’s eight years later, and Nintendo has finally added another iteration to the popular spin-off sports franchise. And 3DS owners couldn’t be more excited!
As the game’s release date looms ever closer (May 20th in North America, May 25th in Europe), information from all over has managed to spew onto the internet - and now, as a matter of fact, we’ve gotten hold of the final roster of characters to be making an appearance in the game - including unlockable characters. Naturally, that means spoilers are contained within, so don’t keep reading if you’re not interested in spoiling your day on the court!
No Baby Luigi? No Koopa? No Toad? No Shy Guy? Baby Daisy? Petey Pirahna? Rosalina? Pauline? Wart?! It’s a bit cut short to be sure, but keep in mind that the true core of the game will settle with how it plays, and what kinds of gameplay modes it can offer. At any rate, don’t forget that you’re able to play as your own Mii character as well - you are Mario’s greatest opponent. And remember to stay tuned to ZeldaInformer this month, as we bring you all of the Mario Tennis Open coverage, as well as our comprehensive review of the game.
