Yesterday may have been the chance for the Wii U to shine, but today Luigi is deciding to hog all of the spot light. What you see above is the worlds first glimpse into the world of Multiplayer Luigi’s Mansion, and it definitely looks interesting to say the least. Of course we have a lot of information to sift through today so I wont waste any more of your time. Here are some all new details regarding the game itself. I warn you, there possibly could be spoilers afoot!
- stage 6 is Gloomy Mansion
- boss is a giant spider
- battle is puzzle-based
- boss battle involves lighting the spider’s web on fire
- you have to do this at least 3 times
- each time you have to figure out a different method of lighting the web
- local, online and download functionality
- can also be played alone
- up to four players
- download functionality removes some features
- details pertain to “Scarescraper” cooperative Hunter Mode
- play as Luigis dressed in different colored outfits
- navigate floors and rooms of a haunted tower packed with ghosts of all varieties
- this includes bosses
- determine the number of floors, with as few as 5
- option for an infinite number as well
- three difficulty levels
- acquire upgrades for vacuums, both through a cumulative effort to acquire treasure as well as randomly assigned bonuses
- collect red coins once all the ghosts have been defeated to gain these bonuses
- every floor and every boss comes with a time limit
- If it expires, you all lose
- floor layouts and enemy layouts (and types) are completely random
- keep track of fellow players through a lower-screen map
- revive fallen friends by finding them, then use a quick press of a button
- hearts are available throughout
- individuals will be judged based on their performance through statistics and more personalized awards
- example: fail to capture ghosts and you’ll be given the ‘Mostly Harmless’ award
- ghosts tease where they are hidden, such as shaking furniture
- keys will open locked doors, but you have to find the keys
- emphasis on combat, not finding/solving puzzles
- ghosts can prank you by putting a pot on your head that messes with your walking, or a curse that screws with your controls
- some curses can be passed to other players just by touching them
- cry out for help when fallen by using the dpad
- bonuses include 3x vacuum or the darklight visor
- gain experience on each level
- get the leecher award for stealing points from other players
Kevin Cassidy from GoNintendo deserves a lot of credit for breaking down all the key points from across the internet today. Of course, what’s a little Luigi’s Mansion love without some new screenshots?
