Man, what is with Satoru Iwata being all over the gaming news these days?
Satoru Iwata has announced that Nintendo has the necessary infrastructure to begin a digital business campaign, due to implications about its importance in future workings. Sadly, more information is being withheld from the public because undetermined rumors from what Nintendo says hurts them in the long run. More information would be revealed when digital distribution begins, if ever.

Given Nintendo’s declining performances financially, they expect to make a recovery during the fiscal year but it will not be with digital content. Yes, the retail items are here to stay.
“The important point for us to remember is how to maintain the situation where a wide variety of our consumers can readily appreciate our offers. In terms of that priority, we cannot, and should not, ask our consumers to embrace the situation where they are required to make excessive payments.” -Satoru Iwata
So, while digital resources definitely has potential, it will still take a lot of time to play that central role.
