• Continuing our exclusive coverage of the ambitious Zelda-themed strategy game, Hyrule: Total War, we bring you an exciting first look at one of the central villains from the game. While Majora may be the “big bad” in this outing, there’s certainly a plethora of famous villains who comprise numerous major sub-stories.

This is one such villain…and he’s out for revenge (sorry to his targets, but I don’t think he’s just planning to beat them within an inch of their lives this time). That’s right…it’s Ghirahim! Or, as he prefers, Lord Ghirahim. He’s designed as one of the most powerful units in the game - a veritable one-man army - and his entire part in the story is one of the major side-plots in the game.

    The official description:

When the forces of evil threatened Hyrule beyond its standing armies, the Sages of Hyrule sought to create a weapon that could halt the advance of darkness. Seeking the Goddess Hylia, the Sages worked with her to create the ultimate weapon: the Master Sword. Unfortunately the first attempt to craft the weapon resulted in Ghirahim; an unstable, independent, and self-serving weapon that had thoughts other then serving the Hero of Time.

As such, Ghirahim was discarded and a new Master Sword was created instead. When Link uses the newly forged Master Sword to return to his youth against the will of the Sages, Ghirahim’s spirit is inexplicably ripped from the failed sword and manifests in Hyrule. Now free of his former bounds, Ghirahim plots to take revenge on the Goddess Hylia and the Seven Sages for abandoning him in favor of his successor.

It looks like Link might be in trouble if Ghirahim is after him! That’s right - Ghirahim is making his official debut as one of the villains of Hyrule: Total War.  During the story, Ghirahim will hunt down Link (and any of your sages) as the game progresses. In addition, Ghirahim will be fully usable in any regular custom match.

The question is…who in this group is he truly after? Link? The Sages? Hylia? Or perhaps…might he be after the very sword that replaced him? More information is on the way - stay tuned!
