It’s the one burning question, and the only one anyone should truly care about. Is it obvious the entire concept and idea is a result of Smash Bros.? Sure, but why is Nintendo the only company allowed to do what they do? They aren’t and Sony is more than welcome to create their own Smash game. Reality is though - can it be as competitive? We are fooling ourselves if we think Mario, Link, and company are the only recognizable characters out there. Sony has a cast of their own that a lot of gamers do recognize. Does any of that matter though? Smash Bros. is one of the most successful fighting games consistently at every release. Sony has some big shoes they are stepping into.
In earnest, I think the game isn’t going to have the same appeal, but I think that’s mostly because of the different types of gamers Sony caters to in comparison to Nintendo. I could be dead wrong, but it’s hard for me imagine another “rip-off” repeating a success Nintendo made. Then again, Microsoft’s improved ripoff of the Sony EyeToy is doing quite well so… what do I know? Next up, The Legend of Felda, Sony’s next exclusive action RPG featuring 3 Gods of power who left three mystical rings containing the powers of heart, strength, and will. Do you think All-Stars Battle Royale is going to be a mega hit?
