Assassin’s Creed III looks to be seeking to add tons of unexpected changes and improvements to an otherwise pretty tried-and-true formula, but one thing that isn’t a surprise is how well the game’s doing in terms of pre-orders: Ubisoft’s saying that based on current trends, it might become one of their most successful launches ever. As of now the game’s on par with Brotherhood‘s numbers in the U.S., and on track to match or surpass the numbers for Revelations, previously the company’s best in terms of pre-order sales.
I guess that’s what happens when your game is coming to not two but three major game consoles and features a heavily patriotic theme during an election year. (Because we all know that’s the real reason why the American Revolution game is due for 2012.) Still, this is good news for Assassin’s Creed, as it means it’s not yet on its way to stagnation, and in a series that’s committed to yearly releases, that’s definitely encouraging.
