It’s finally here! It’s with great pleasure and pride that we at Zelda Informer welcome all you Zelda fans to Zelda Informer’s Best Zelda Ever: 2017 Edition! It’s been awhile since the last time Zelda Informer put together a list like this, and in that time, a lot has happened. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was finally released; longtime editors left, while new editors joined; opinions changed, games aged for better and for worse; and even Zelda…

I must say, I was rather surprised when there were certain weapons that had a higher DPS than the Master Sword itself for The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While there’s the option of increasing the sword’s power through the Trial of the Sword, I didn’t view it as that big of an improvement in DPS. I don’t necessarily believe it should be an all powerful sword, or just obliterate every other weapon, but I had imagined it…

Greetings, Zelda Informer family. I know I’m a day late, but the latest edition of our weekly Caption Contest is ready to begin. We’ve been highlighting the strangest Breath of the Wild mods this month, as various pop culture icons have popped up around the land of Hyrule. We’ve seen CJ from Grand Theft Auto, the lovable ogre Shrek, and the Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts. And to complete the month of wacky screenshots, the unconquerable Sherriff Woody mounts up this…

As gamers, we all have our specific preferences on what’s a good controller and what’s lacking. Over the years, Nintendo, like its competitors has come out with a great many controllers for its evolving consoles and handheld systems. From the original Nintendo Entertainment System to the Wii U and Switch Pro Controllers, innovation has never been a stranger. With that being said, not all controllers are made equal. Playing the original Legend of Zelda on the NES pad was… simple, but…

Things have broken into all out war. Mases and I have a score to settle, and we have decided to determine this on the battlefield of Ocarina of Time 3D. In our new show “Zelda Warfare,” we will be racing the game in segments, which will be treated as separate “battles”. After the initial round, we will then start the next battle at the same place and keep a tally of who is victorious battle by battle. There will also be…

One of the more interesting creative choices made for Breath of the Wild was the inclusion of an ambient, minimalist soundtrack. Primarily using light piano melodies and flourishes, many of the songs in the game’s score were quite subdued, though they did fit well with Breath‘s overall open-air feel. This musical direction was quite bold, as it was very different from the OST’s of past games in the series, but the reality has since set in that some fans were…

Skyward Sword greatly expanded on the lore and mythos in the Zelda series, introducing an origin story that would ultimately lead to a never-ending conflict. In all of the games prior to Skyward Sword, Link was often introduced as a low ranking member of society, including a rancher, island dweller, and “the boy without a fairy,” reinforcing this notion that all of Link’s journeys start with humble beginnings that require him to accept his role as the fated hero. Breath…

Welcome to the Cave of Trials. The premise is simple: Every week, two characters from The Legend of Zelda series will duke it out for the Zelda Informer Championship. Whoever has more votes at the end of the week, wins. This is strictly a popularity contest, not who you think would win in a fight; so vote for who you like better! The winner will then go on next week to defend the title against a new challenger, as decided by…

When it comes to manga, Mases and I are pretty inexperienced. This year though we chose to dive into the Ocarina of Time manga and see what it was all about. Our thoughts were documented chapter-by-chapter in our series, “Zelda Book Club“. We’ve now come to the end of the road on this journey, gathered our thoughts, and created a final review for the entirety of the manga. Mases and I greatly enjoyed reading through the manga, and are interested…

Din, Nayru, and Farore, the Golden Goddesses of Hyrule, are among the most powerful beings in the Zelda universe, combining their power to create Hyrule at the beginning of time. Fatigued from their work, the Goddesses retreated to the heavens, and ever since, they have rarely become involved in the chaos that befalls Hyrule, shrouding their beliefs and values in mystery. Even in Skyward Sword, the first game in the timeline, there is little to mention of the Golden Goddesses,…
