The Quarter-Finals of our Best Dungeon tournament continue with a new match-up. As Earth Temple and Ancient Cistern clash in yesterday’s poll, we now turn to the best dungeons of A Link Between Worlds and Breath of the Wild. This bout could go either way, so let’s get started. Thieves’ Hideout (A Link Between Worlds) Vs. Hyrule Castle (Breath of the Wild) Thieves’ Hideout earned a modest win in our A Link Between Worlds poll, and continued to build up…

With Breath of the Wild having such a vast and open world, players are left with a lot to explore and find on their journey. Many of these hidden objects throughout the game are the Sheikah Shrines. Some of these shrines are very easy to find, while others challenge the player in finding the location of the shrine. With a total of 120 Sheikah Shrines to find, it is hard to narrow it down to which are the best to…

Game Theory’s “Culture Shock” series, hosted by Gaijin Goombah, recently posted a video on the Yiga Clan. This particular video somewhat accompanies Gaijin’s video about the Sheikah in Breath of the Wild. Rather than look for the authenticity of the Yiga Clan as ninja, Gaijin chooses to focus more on the historical background of the Yiga. He also gets to the bottom of why the Yiga seem to love bananas so much. The Yiga appear to be representing the Iga…

Back almost a year ago in one of my debut editorial here at Zelda Informer, I penned a piece outlining the five things that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could learn from Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls V was, and in many ways still is, considered the benchmark open world game. Every new open world game will inevitably draw a comparison to Skyrim at some point. Take a second to read that article to get an idea of…

One of the best things about Breath of the Wild‘s cooking mechanic was that it gave cooking-savvy Zelda fans dozens of cool recipes to replicate. Skilled chefs like Rosanna Pansino have been sharing their steps for making near flawless recreations, much to the delight of incompetent chefs like myself. Recently, Pansino released a video outlining how to make the Fruitcake from the “A Royal Recipe” sidequest. It’s a perfect treat for the upcoming holiday season, so check it out! This video…

Gaijin Goombah recently added a video to his “Which Ninja” series in which he analyzes what makes ninjas from fictional series either realistic or completely fake. In this particular video, he focuses in on the many ninja-esque aspects of Breath of the Wild‘s Sheikah tribe. The Sheikah, Gaijin Goombah notes, have always been ninja-like within the Zelda series, but, before Breath of the Wild, there was nothing to really confirm this similarity. The Sheikah clearly are influenced by Japanese ninja culture, as seen…

NintendoBlackCrisis recently uploaded a YouTube video that attempted to solve the mystery of the Great Plateau in Breath of the Wild. The location of the landmass has always seemed a little off to some players, and, with the help of Archnoble, BlackNitendoCrisis thinks he has finally figured out what happened, as land between the Great Plateau and the Lost Woods seemed to have swapped. Archnoble brought to NintendoBlackCrisis’s attention the similarities of the two landmasses, such as their shape and…

Discussion about the lore and story of the Zelda series is one of the most important elements of our community, as nearly every detail of every game has sparked analysis, debate, and theories. Generally, we fans take the plot, dialogue, and details of each title at face value, accepting what is presented to us in our respective region’s version of that title. This practice doesn’t lead to many problems, but every so often, we find certain inconsistencies among the different…

In a fairly recent video, NintendoBlackCrisis tries to tackle the mystery of the Seven Heroines in Breath of the Wild. He begins by looking at the Gerudo script that’s found on the statues themselves and translating it into English. He’s somewhat shocked to discover that the script reads “The Seven Sages”, but, NintendoBlackCrisis immediately tries to line up the Heroines with the Seven Sages across various Zelda titles. The connections he makes between the Seven Sages and the Heroines are loose speculation…

In Breath of the Wild, we have seen a number of places throughout the land of Hyrule that were once bustling places. Unfortunately, after Calamity Ganon’s attack, many of these places are now destroyed and stood as a reminder of the kingdom’s prosperity. One of the ruins located in central Hyrule are the Coliseum Ruins. These ruins greatly resemble the Roman Colosseum, and as Hick from TwoGuysPlayingZelda explains, likely had a similar purpose. Although much of the history of these…
