BREAKING NEWS: Latest Zelda Wii Rumors CONFIRMED

The latest batch of Zelda Wii rumors, posted only yesterday, has been confirmed just a few minutes ago. We were reluctant to post the source of the rumors earlier because of the dubious validity, and turned our entire attention towards digging up the source. It took some translating, some waiting for administrator approvals, and some investigation, but we can now say, with 99.99% validity, that the Zelda Wii Rumors from yesterday, are true.

  • Zelda Wii's official title is "The Legend of Zelda". There will be no subtitle.
  • The game tells a story several hundred years before Ocarina of Time.It also answers the question of how the Mastersword came into being.
  • The fairy-like girl plays is a very important character in the game. Her Name is Zordiana.
  • The Hookshot is also in the game and it has new abilities. It will not pull you immediately to the target you aimed. Now it is possible to swing with the Hookshot, like with the Grappling Hook from WW. The Hookshot makes no use of Wii Motion Plus.
  • Sometimes you have to "draw" a specific symbol on a door with your sword, to open it.
  • The Bow-Control is very similar to the Bow-Control in Wii Sports Resort, as the script shows.
  • There are two levels of difficulty. Aonuma put it through. Miyamoto didn't want to include it.The Normal-Mode for amateurs. The Hero-Mode has no "Super Guide" included and the enemies tougher.
  • The On-Stage Dungeon, which is also playable at E3, isn't a Dungeon as we know it from the Zelda series. When entering a Dungeon, you will not notice you are in one. It will be a smooth gradation. There will be Dungeons with no Bosses and Bosses with no Dungeon. The "Dungeon" you are able to play at E3 will be an Ice-Level. It will be the frist "Dungeon" in the Game.

The day the rumors were posted here, we received an email from a @yahoo.de account listing the rumors and providing a link to a german gaming forum (Thread here). Writing back to that email, we received no answer. Instead, we turned to the guy who posted them on the forum. After registering though we were disappointed to see that a user requires 15 posts to send a private message... Trying to reply to the thread was equally hopeless as the account needs to be verified by an administrator. Twelve hours later, the verification showed up.

account.png

The thread unfortunately moved on already (Germans apparently don't care too much about rumors) so we didn't actually hope for too much. This morning however, the guy who posted the rumors wrote a random reply to that same thread, just seconds before we checked the thread. Using this momentarily attention, we popped the question and lo and behold, he answered... with a different forum post. Apparently the rumors originated at yet another german Zelda fansite. After finding the thread there, we were relieved when the forum didn't shout at us when we tried to write a PM. An hour later, we got the confirmation. At the request of the original poster, we will disclose as little info as possible.

The information came from a translator / german language instructor working in Kyoto who was hired at the E3 to prepare Aonuma for his speech. It is not entirely accurate that the info is from the first page of the speech. The original poster is an acquaintance of this person. The information was passed on to him via IM.

In order to protect the identity of both individuals, we are unable to disclose anything else at this point in time.

LAST DISCLAIMER: Due to the nature of the post, many people have, and will still be skeptic, which is normal. I however, as the guy who did all the poking around and all the talking, am going to personally shove a Wii Remote up my nose while humming the Pink Panther theme if this ends up not being true in its entirety. You'll have plenty of time to fill up my inbox with hateful things after that.

Update: Apparently, someone really, REALLY, does not like us right now. I am too tired to really sort out the whole mess, but the original posting of this with the some odd 200 comments... had to be taken down as that particular post was targeted and made corrupt. It's a sad world we live in folks. I have brought the post back at the same url, but until we figure out why that particular entry is now corrupt, you have to start fresh. At least I was able to bring this back at the same url. If whoever did this has some "real beef" with us, feel free to contact us by sending an email to webmaster@zeldainformer.com, and we will take care of your complaints accordingly.

Wait, what? Is this right, there were 188 comments here and now they are all gone...what happened? Also, the author of the post changed from Damir to Nathaniel, why the change?

Seems suspicious.

DO YOU HAVE PROOF FROM NINTENDO, OR PROOF THAT YOUR SOURCE IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO NINTENDO?

If not, your are misleading people by calling this "confirmed".

HatsInACat | June 14, 2010 2:53 AM

@ Jupiter

Just shut up -.-

HatsInACat, you're awesome comment is gone now. :(

"Leaker is the source. Leaker is the german translator for Aonuma. Aonuma works for Nintendo. Leaker is connected to Nintendo." ~HatsInACat (Did I get this right?)

There. The proof is directly connected to Nintendo, Jupiter.

Also, incase you ask for proof, that would force them to reveal the leaker. So that cannot be done.

Guys, Nintendo's conference is tomorrow. If you really have doubts about these rumors, wait until then and if they turn out to be false, good for you. It's not like anyone's gonna fall over and die just because the ZI staff are dead certain about something. Hell, I find it rather assuring.

ArynCrinn | June 14, 2010 2:59 AM

@ Jupiter

Do you have any proof that anyone really cares that they are calling this confirmed?

This is the internet. Everyone, but fools, knows to take verything on the internet with a huge pile of salt.

HatsInACat | June 14, 2010 2:59 AM

@ Realm

Yeah, something along those lines haha

In the long run its Leaker -> Aonuma -> Nintendo, or to make it simpler for Jupiter, Leaker -> Nintendo

And again, I'm waiting for that magical way to work around this ;)

HatsInACat | June 14, 2010 3:00 AM

Also bad troll is bad. Friggin distracting me from my term paper :|

TheLastGerudo | June 14, 2010 3:04 AM

This is commical,. All this just to get replys to a post., I don't believe any of it.

HatsInACat | June 14, 2010 3:04 AM

Which coincidentally, and in all honesty, is about trolling.

@ Nathan

If anything, someone was still leaving comments after the page went corrupt. Went from 187 to 189 and I couldn't access in between.

@Realm and @HatsInACat

Haw simple do we have to get with you two? Do you know what the word "proof" means?

Some German guy saying that he works for Aonuma is not proof. They don't have to reveal their source to confirm that they have proof that this guy works for Aonuma, that is a totally BOGUS argument. All they have to do is say, "Yes, we have proof". Done. But they can't even do that, because it would seem that they don't have any proof. They just believe him apparently.

So far Nathanial and Damir are ignoring and sidestepping my very simple, very reasonable question...why? This could all be true, but from what they are going on, it is deception to call this "confirmed". Tell us that you have proof your source is connected to Nintendo, or print a retraction stating that this is not actually "confirmed".

Anything less is manipulation and whoring for hits.

HatsInACat | June 14, 2010 3:27 AM

It seems as though its actually Acquaintance -> Leaker -> Aonuma -> Nintendo

Doesn't matter really. Your constant posting is just helping him with his evil plan to obtain hits. Boycott ZI for a day if you're really against it.

We naturally are pretty certain on our source and our "proof", but to protect the identities of the individuals we will not release that information.

You are asking us to just say that "we have proof" - we already said that in the post but we cannot disclose the proper information right now. I think something like 30 different people have already pointed this out to you and you continue to ignore it. You are repeating yourself - OF COURSE we have some proper proof, but we can't disclose it. Give it up already, it's old.

@HatsInACat
"Also why is the Triforce upside down over there +points to above Our Community at the very bottom of the page+"

It's a secret to everybody.

Nate, I hope you realize that now you're the one who has to stick a Wii Remote up his nose if these rumors end up incorrect.

THE LEGEND OF ZELDA | June 14, 2010 3:41 AM

"It would appear that the origin of the rumors is a German individual who claims to be friends with Eiji Aounuma’s German language instructor, preparing our favorite producer for E3. Mr. Aounuma’s strange need for a German language instructor at an American presentation may be the cause of a bit of skepticism, but the originator of the rumors claims that this German language instructor revealed these secrets and is now appalled that they are out in cyberland."

Please...you just have to read this quote...This is fake my friends. And I will be here on this page after the E3 to talk to you ZELDAINFORMER...

@Nathanial

Proof of what sort? Something better than his word? And why would he give you proof, why not just deny it and ignore it? You can easily answer a lot more questions without "revealing your source".

Look, you posted this story, you knew you would get comments, and sorry, you're not going to have much luck telling the people who point out holes in it or who challenge you to just go away. I understand that it would be unpleasant to you to have deficiencies pointed out, tough luck though.

What kind of proof do you have?

Documentation?

Independent corroboration?

He is such a good story tell that it just must be true?

What?

You can't hide behind the "we are protecting our source" on these questions, you can answer that without compromising anyone.

I be trollin'... I be hatin'...

ArynCrinn | June 14, 2010 3:56 AM

@Jupiter

The only people that they could posisbly hurt are themselves. IF they are wrong, they will have lost trust in a whole lot of people, who will most likely not return to this site, except to comment on their dishonesty. I don't know why you feel the need to keep going on.

If you're trying to help the Z.I. staff, they obviously don't want your help.

If you want confirmation, you're just going to have to wait like the rest of us.

Now forget the whole thing.

@Nathanial

Attack the messenger--a classic.

Redirect attention and ignore the questions, good move sir!

Look, I am not trolling, I find that insulting, and kind of childish on your part. I am asking serious, earnest questions, I would like some genuine answers, not to be ignored.

What kind of proof do you have? A document? Independent corroboration? You just really, really liked his story? What?

It is not believable that you can't say HOW you know this is true with 99.99% certainty without revealing the people involved.

Stop acting like a child and man up: what kind of proof do you have?

@HatsInACat
"Also why is the Triforce upside down over there +points to above Our Community at the very bottom of the page+"

It is for a forum called "Stone Watchers", where the webmasters the Zelda sites meet to do stuff.

@Lex
"It's a secret to everybody."

Here's a hint....

It's no longer a secret so get over it. ;)

As for this breaking News, well it is still considered rumors to me due to the amount of people the information passed between before reaching this site. Haven't any of you played the game 'telephone' when you were little kids? The more people information passes through, the less likely that it is the actual information that started it.

Still an interesting read none-the-less.

Just for "those" who missed it. I'm still the author of this, but I was asleep when this happened.

BeefyLink | June 14, 2010 5:29 AM

You guys do realize how ridiculous that source sounds right? A German translator for a Japanese guy at an English speaking event. O-Kay.

ArynCrinn | June 14, 2010 5:50 AM

@BeefyLink

As ridiculous as a Japanese translator for a japanese guy at an english event...
It's really a bad reason to dismiss this.

And on top of that, they have said that he is fluent in over 6 million forms of commu.... I mean, several languages.

@beefylink

It's a TRANSLATOR who lives in germany and speaks english, japanses, and of course german.

Emily-Ann Coons | June 14, 2010 7:06 AM

This is funny just how much people troll over something like this...I just came from pokebeach where they are having a similar problem with the fact that someone leaked a bunch of Black and White info that may or may not be fake lol In either case...I just want to say...E3 is what...tomorrow? Or at least the Nintendo part anyway? I dunno...but in either case...why don't people just wait until then and find out what happens? I'm not holding my breathe, so you shouldn't be either (Besides, if you were, you'll die before you can find out the truth, cause you'll be holding your breathe for a whole day XD). Bad puns aside, I'm just gonna wait and see what happens. I'm as excited for E3 as everyone else is.

Also, since everyone says "I can't wait for E3, cause then I'll troll ZI when it all comes out to be false" keep one thing in mind: What if it does turn out to all be true? All of your trolling will have been for nothing, and your planned day-long troll session will be canceled...I recommend making better plans for yourself then that...

ArynCrinn | June 14, 2010 7:23 AM

Unless someone has definitive proof for/against rumours, just accept them for what they are: rumours.

So, thePredator, got that Wiimote and the Pink Panther theme ready?

^_^

Johnny Appleseed | June 14, 2010 10:14 AM

You know what? I'm with Jupiter here. Not once have you guys really answered his question and you always go around it or simply don't answer it.

It's an easy question. If what you're saying is true, then there's nothing to worry about. Right?

Honestly, I think their trying to get hits to somehow reconnect that to their new site "VGRC" that they wanna get popular. Pathetic.

lol internet

srs bsns

Deleted comment because of spam. We've heard it a million times, you're repeating yourself over and over again. Unless you have something new to say, do not comment any more.

This is not a "silencing the crowd" move. It's a spam cleaning.

Repetitive spam deleted. Seriously, it's getting old. You're achieving nothing.

NinjaPlatypus | June 14, 2010 12:49 PM

Just wondering...

If Aonuma needed someone to translate for him, why would he get someone living in Germany, quite a ways away from him, to do the translating, as opposed to someone a bit more local (in Japan from where he's based, or from the USA for where he's currently going?)

WaitAMinute | June 14, 2010 12:58 PM

@the_Preator

Why are you deleting comments that seem like fine questions to me. You are the one who has to defend your story.

What do you have to hide?

This is pretty lousy.

If you get comments you don't like you are going to delete them? Do you want us all just to kiss your butt cheeks and thank you for lying to us.

Print a retraction. You have spread a lie that you had "confirmed" rumors all over the internet. It is the only right thing to do.

Dark Link FTW | June 14, 2010 1:05 PM

The only thing I am worried about is the awesome soundtrack that has always kept me hooked to Zelda. (Without a soundtrack, what is Zelda?)

I think these rumors would make the game insanely awesome though. I would love the game with all twenty of my hearts. ;D

If they aren't true then I would like to join in on sticking a Wii remote up my nose to the theme of the Pink Panther please.

The comments are being deleted because they have been repeated a million times - by the same user. You are not achieving anything by spamming your DEMANDS in full caps - something which isn't allowed in the comments in the first place.

I'm not spamming chief, I am asking legitimate questions. I am not making duplicate posts, I am only repeating some very reasonable questions that you ignore.

Now, on the day that Nathanial as admitted to the fact that calling these rumors confirmed is a lie, you are on a campaign to silence me. That tells me a lot about your character, and sense of guilt.

I'll stick to small letters...if you would though, print a retraction of your all caps lie that these rumors were "CONFIRMED".

(I would have used lower case, but I am quoting you Mr. Predator)

You misunderstand my intentions. I still stand to my words just as I did the moment I posted them. I'm not "silencing" you. You made your point, you made your request, we all saw it, and now you can stop. There is no use, no point in repeating it again. It's just spam, and will be treated as such.

I wonder if they deleted the the 200 original comments to this post themselves. I read a lot of questions they did not answer and it might have been away for them to get rid of them and now they are just deleting individual post.

As Nate clarified earlier - the original post is still there, just unpublished. For some reason, the URL became broken so Nate reposted it.

http://www.fotorola.com/uploads/1141f68649.jpg

It's all still there, and we're read all the comments.

Ok, but maybe you closed it down. Because you read but not answered. We know in less than a day if it is true. But it is weird that you don't answer how you know, you could without saying a name.

My interpretation of what happened is: Zelda Informer has found evidence that has subdued their general skepticism as to the truthfulness of the rumors, and wants to tell you that they are certain that the rumors are true. To protect their identity, the source made ZI promise to not reveal their evidence, but that doesn't stop ZI from saying that they believe it. Whether you believe it or not comes down to whether or not you trust the people at Zelda Informer to confirm things before posting them. If you, like me, trust Zelda Informer, then you believe them. If you don't, they have already said there is room for error, and if they turn out to be wrong, I'm willing to bet that they will make a post after E3 that will correct their mistakes.

Hey there everyone, I don't know why you all are so skeptical and ready to flame at this post. I was just with those guys at E3 and I assure you-- it's all true. It's simply amazing how Miyamoto and Aounuma were able to make a zelda game like this and still make it feel like a zelda game.

I personally love all of these features they implemented, and I can't wait to see what else is in store for us.

Idea: Nintendo hasn't yet come up with a name, so they are calling it Legend of Zelda for now.

Chris, I've already said the same thing countless times, and they ignored it every time.

All the nay-sayers, including Jupiter especially, do not know the full situation, so of course they'll say "Just give us the proof! Why would it have to reveal his identity!?". Only Zelda Informer knows why, but those people still insist on something that they know nothing about.

Regardless, just don't bother with them. If Zelda Informer is correct about the rumors, they will quiet down come E3 tomorrow.

I'm just going to ignore the people who are heatedly arguing over a subject that is going to be confirmed TOMORROW (or rather today, since it's past midnight over here) and I'll post my opinion on these "confirmed" rumors.
I'm just going to take these as plain and simple rumors that aren't going to come true because I don't want to get my hopes up for anything (but if they do happen to be true then I'll be super happy!) Anyways, these all sound pretty awesome to me, but the two I'm most excited for are the seperate levels and the Ice Dungeon being the first dungeon.
I'm glad to hear about how there might be different level options, one for casual and one for hardcore, because to me, TP was horribly easy (which made it extremely boring). So hopefully I'll be having those I'm-completely-stumped moments when playing this game.
And I'm also ecstatic that the Ice Dungeon might be the first dungeon because this means we might be getting more interestingly themed areas, rather than the usual earth, water, and fire (which is another thing that made TP boring - it seemed stale and repetitive).
I'm hoping that these are true, but we'll see. And for the love of all that is pure and holy in this world, stop fighting people!!

I believe that these rumours are false. Why? Because I remember Miyamoto stating (I don't remember where) that there wouldn't be a super guide.

He didn't say there wouldn't be a super guide, he said that it could open up Pandora's box (which is another way of saying that it could ruin the game entirely), but only potentially. He never said they wouldn't try.

@Realm

I have said all along that they could be true, I don't think it is accurate to call me a nay-sayer. My beef is that they are not actually "confirmed". It does not matter if they turn out to be correct, what they have done already is flat out wrong, and slimy.

And now Nate even says so, but is still an accomplice in lying to everyone by not printing a retraction.

Nate even predicts the first rumor to be false, but still he is to proud to do the right thing.

It is also pretty funny to see him say "this is all on Damir's shoulders" as he did in the another post. Nice try bub!

It's all very dirty and unseemly.

Ploytondo | June 15, 2010 1:41 AM

@Realm

Ah... it looks like I misread what he said.

gorgeglish | June 15, 2010 5:28 AM

Jupiter, you are just never going to learn. They said they have proof that, for whatever reason, would be harmful if they posted it. It was confirmed to them, and they confirmed it to us. If you don't trust ZI, then shut up and stop reading already.

"It does not matter if they turn out to be correct"

It does, actually, as it means that they were smart to confirm the rumours regardless of whether they had proof. But of course, you only said that because you're positioning yourself onto the moral high ground in case your crusade was all for nothing.

There isn't much incentive to lie about it. Even if they get hits, confirming false info would only hurt their reputation and undermine their future credibility when posting stuff. Seems like a huge gamble just to potentially score a one-hit wonder news post.

The gullibility among all of you is mind-blowing. You can't just say "Oh yeah, I know a guy who knows a guy" and call it proof. Have you ever noticed one common thing about every Zelda rumor that there has ever been? They're all fake. Pretty much all rumors about Nintendo products are, for that matter. Nintendo is a very secretive company, and they know how to keep things under wraps. To assume any ridiculous claims as 100% real is purely nonsensical.

thePredator, you may begin shoving that Wii mote up your nose.

Austin Guy | June 15, 2010 12:34 PM

Just saw the conference. This guy just got OOOOOOOWWWWWNED!
Get the Pink Panther and the Wii-mote! XD

adolf wolf | June 15, 2010 1:55 PM

lol better get your nosed lubed up, bro.

don't know why you trusted some random internet guy and claimed what he said was valid? just to get more hits? despicable.

Its funny because you were wrong...

I decided to wait until the press conference to say this:

you guys are either despicable or idiots.
you're idiots if you believe a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy, etc.
and you're despicable if you knew that this was bogus and posted it anyway, calling it confirmed.

regardless, ZI is no longer a source of reliable information.
it's pretty lame that you guys couldn't confirm your source or posted this crap to get more hits.

either way, nice going.
get ready to shove that wiimote up your nose.

hahahha skyward sword in ur face!

i reaally hope the latter comes true with the difficulty LozSS could work but they need better moblins and to difficulty modes

Johnny Appleseed | June 15, 2010 4:32 PM

So, ZL, now the we all see that you're full of bull... what do you have to say for yourselves?

Just thought I'd chip in here, yeah they made a mistake, so what? It's ONE mistake, and how long has this site been running for? I believe that the people running this site truely did think these rumours were true, and so might of you if you had known the source of them. I might understand it more if this had come out long before any announcments but, guys, this was TWO DAYS before the official announcement of Zelda: Skyward Sword, it really wasn't that long to build up any hopes or get worked up about.

Anyway, just thought I'd post this amongst all these haters, I still support this website and will always come here for Zelda news. Keep up the good work guys and try not to make this mistake again.

Deviant_Link | June 16, 2010 10:58 AM

Wii remote up nose now!
HAHAHA
How does Skyward Sword sound right about now?
What a way to say 'Confirmed' which implies that in no way whatsoever they are wrong when clearly, they have been blown out of the water.
No need to stick up for some guy who confirms something that hasn't actually been confirmed. Footage of Wii Remote up nose NOW!

Deviant_Link | June 16, 2010 11:00 AM

Jupiter was right from the beginning mind you, so anyone that criticised him, they aren't looking to bright now.

But they got one thing wrong. The official title has a subtitle: Skyward Sword
