Zelda Wii Screenshots Leaked?

Zelda Wii Screen 1
Real? An elaborate hoax? Is it really possible that screens could get leaked from the testing team? It all seems highly improbable, but we are not really able to prove or disprove the validity of these screens. I was sent them anonymously with claims and links to several different forums who were all sourcing too many different places to honestly come up with definite answers, but I will say I am on the side that believes it's also highly unlikely. Still, it is a rather good job just for... a fake. Of course, if you caught my words closely... I said there were screens... multiple images.

Again, I do feel these are fake, but I can't definitely prove it personally. It is fun to think of the possibilities. From Roc's Cape to what appears to be a Bombers Notebook type feature. All rather intriguing to at least think about. So what say you? Real or fake?

Update: Confirmed Fake, created by PentroxZU from Zelda Universe. Still fun to talk about though:

Roc's Cape in a 3D game? Bollocks.

That HUD looks like it was made from fan art.

I'm calling Hoax. If they'd not put in a menu and button select that looked so crappy I'd believe it more.

On the other hand beta screens do look reeeeeally poo sometimes.

Wow, if those are fake, the people who made them did a really nice job. I don't see Link in any of them though. Unless, is that him on the title screen with the Hylian Shield? Where's his hat and why is he shoved to the side of the screen?

Look at that, the item icons appear to be cel-shaded, and there's the mysterious girl! But the rest of the game looks realistic, not cel-shaded... Or is it somekind of realistic cel shading? Hard to tell as I'm on my little iPhone. =P

Really intriguing though. The cel-shaded items make me think it's fake cause people could easily draw those and add them to a screen. However, the environments look convincing and I don't recognize them.

Really curious about this!

Hard to read the subtitle, but does it say "The Broken Triforce"? I seriously doubt Nintendo would use that, even as a beta title. Looks kind of interesting although I'd definitely say it's fake.

Fake, big time. Although these are pretty dang good fakes. Props to the author.

The text at the top of the list seems to say either "Sphere of Light Acquired" or "Tears of Light Acquired".

Just because of the simple fact that these "screenshots" do have such a bad quality and only show crap they gotta be fake. When you leak screenies of a future game you nowadays definitely don't take a crappy photo of your TV...we're in 21st century after all. And srsly do you think they are already testing it in US? Even would be surprising for me if Nintendo let their testing team in Japan test it (are they actually allowed to test it at home?).

The menu items also look extremely disproportionate to the rest of the menu, not to mention they are defiantly in the windwaker type art style and the game is not meaning a clash of styles.

One other interesting thing, menu items are usually 3D looking while those look like art

Eh, I take it as a sudden fanart craze. As long as they are pretty looking I won't complain. I'll still stick to waiting the E3 for any hopes of seeing anything worth it.

Yup, these are fake, that or Nintendo can't make up its mind between cel-shading and those TP-ish style graphics. Laptop doesn't let me read the subtitle at all. Someone said it seemed to read 'the Broken Triforce'?
Err... Sounds like a random fanfic title...

..You know what I mean.

I prefer the previous fake screenshots from that Ryu guy with Link HD. Might use one as a wallpaper.

Awaiting the next batch of fakes. I suggest wrestling.

Sorry to double-post, but to clarify:
Wrestling, as in... new mini-game or weird boss battle: -Link- wrestling.

...
Better yet, boxing. Yaay, boxing.

I call fake. If you check the bottom screen, you can kinda see English-looking letters. Not Japanese.

Also, note the Wind Waker-ish HUD, but the TP-ish graphics.

H the zelda fan | January 29, 2010 10:41 AM

hmmm. i'd call fake on them. the top screen resembles oblivion a hell of a lot. theres the alter from one of the churches and the character models have a similer anatomy to the game too (yeah i can tell even if its blurry).

still, if they are fake, the person did one hell of a job modding the game :)
still im convinced they're fake, but time will tell.

Good trick using a shot taken from a TV, it hides details that would scream "this is clearly fake!". But as John Dread said, nowadays anyone with access to the real thing would be capable of capturing high quality screenshots. Besides, this kind of TV yet exists in Japan? :P

I liked the 2-D cartoonish style for HUD and menu, though.

The subtitle in the header image looks like it says "The Heroes Triforce". Maybe that would explain the multiple characters onscreen?

"H the zelda fan", I said the same thing to Nathan as soon as I saw the top screenshot... It looks like Oblivion! They wouldn't need to mod the game though, just add things to a screenshot and view it in the Wii's Photo Channel to make the image appear on the tv.

These are models from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. No joke. I recognize the foyer models, the 'fountain' model, and the cobblestone/grass textures from my 100s of hours of modding the game. On top of that, I believe the Hylian Guards are actually NPCs with custom armor due to their static stance (as one would appear in the TES: Construction Set) and they hold their shields and holster their swords. It's Oblivion, no doubt.

Either fake or REALLY early in development. I highly doubt that Zelda Wii would look like that.

Please. This is stupidly fake. For one thing, I doubt the game would be in English at this point, and I think that is even more true if they were leaked 6 months ago.

Also, this is a TV in someone's house! What would the game be doing in someone's house? 6 months ago it would still be in Japan.

Finally, the title screen looks like c.r.a.p.

Fake...
The "Mysterious Girl" picture is of her head, but it's the same picture of her from The Wind Waker, only showing her head!
Still, the multiple heroes idea does sound pretty good if not terrible.

These ARE fake. Look at some of the architecture: it is identical to the chapel architecture from Oblivion. Note the chapel windows, the rock basin with the red banners on it, chandeliers, archways, etc.

I'd definetly say that this was a fake, so anyone that thinks it's real, you need a very strong black coffee. Looks like the photos have been taken in someone's home. And why would Nintendo use out of date Panasonic TVs?.......

I really wished that this was real, however, they are fake. Look at the first image. Only one of the four characters has a shadow. Hardware these days draw shadows itself and are not developer made. Therefore, it cannot be a hardware error.

Obviously fake. The person who made this used a headshot of the Queen of Fairies who people say the girl on the piece of artwork looks like. But it has been confirmed that it was just concept art and will not be her final design. So she has no ties to the Queen of Fairies or the Master Sword unless it is confirmed that she does. And this is not the art direction for a Zelda game anyway. Look at the characters of games like Twilight Princess, where Link seems to be the only "normal" looking one.

And it's also laughably apparent that they spelled "through" wrong on the last line of the list in the last picture.

i also think this is fake, the game in the pictures looks pretty realistic, and the hud, is, well the opposite, they wouldnt make the hud have different graphics, and the title, "the broken triforce," that is so made up, nintendo would be able to have something a lot deeper than that and more interesting.

I could make better fake screens than that

Cloud Strife aka L | January 29, 2010 4:05 PM

Ich sagen mal ganz Klar das es Fake ist auf den Bildern

I know its fake... but its still fun right? ...RIGHT?

Oh and for all of you idiots who think its real, its fake. a lot of the walls and pillars in the first picture are from Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Noob fake.. I mean.. besides the horrible art, the game is still in development so why would it have English menus?

People should start doing better fakes... :/

This is the best looking fake I've seen, but some things are a little to pixelated to be good. Bravo to whoever made these though but they fake as hell

benny banardo | January 29, 2010 7:34 PM

its an elder scrolls oblivion mod you can tell by the textures of the environment and the layout also look at the character stance its exactly the same as oblivion ones. pretty good though

LOL to everyone freaking out over this and 1000 people all telling us its from oblivion.

Just appreciate the quality of the fakes, compared to previous efforts I've seen they're pretty decent.

No need to get all worked up people..

Obvious fakes but they are the best I've seen :)

Also, the copyright 2010, I find that a little strange to be honest, if this was real it would probably have been made a few months ago so in 2009, so it would most likely say (C) 2009...? Or I could just be more drunk than I think I am?

WTF? These pics are crap! Whoever the hell believes this is from Nintendo is a moron. The HUD is terrible! The graphics are at best Gamecube ready not Wii ready. And the subtitle is the stupidest subtitle ever for a Zelda game.

If you think this is real, you're an idiot.

Fake.
it looks bad, and the guy has a Hylian Shield, which is customarily reserved for Link. they may change it but i doubt it. It also has the triangle at the bottom, which Miyamoto and company took out in TP. why would they put it back in?
also, the Rocs Feather is a re-color of a previous art piece, no anything in game.
Adelle or whatever at the top is the fairy queen with the WW style again from character art.

good job though, its nice. i like how the four nights have the hair of the FSA Links. clever.

also, wheres the picture behind the Zelda title? MM had Majora's Mask, TP had the Fused Shadows and the wolf, WW the King of Red Lions. none here? bullshit

The icons look really fake.

Oh look. It's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Yeah the icons look like they were taken of Devianart or something. Still REALLY cool to look at.

Definitely FAKE! Based on every Zelda game before this one, the Zelda team would never go with a name like "The Broken Triforce." They would have to pick a name that has hardly any thing to do with the game (Phantom Hourglass, Twilight Princess) plus they wouldn't mix normal Zelda and cartoon Zelda. I predict it to look just like Twilight Princess, the way Spirit Tracks looks like Phantom Hourglass.

Only one knight in that first picture has a shadow, definitely a fake, regardless of the fact that it all looks fake, that's a dead giveaway. Plus a title like "The Broken Triforce" is ridiculous considering the Triforce is always broken.

C=ZeldaLove | March 10, 2010 4:12 AM

Uhm yea... no. Nintendo didn't spend this long on the game to come up with this. They've got to make it an improved graphic compared to twilight princess or it wont be honored seeing as it has caused so much commotion.

Hoax not a second to think about it.

C=ZeldaLove | March 10, 2010 4:15 AM

Oh yea just to mention it... The broken triforce... this sounds like the work of a 12 year old.. the triforce has already been broken into shards in previous games. mm yea guys don't get your hopes up over this :S Just forget about it. And get ready to anticipate the real in game pictures that should be reveled by June at the E3 conference
