There are a lot of things in that rumor mill yesterday that can paint a decent picture for this new post Majora's Mask world. In fact, one could dare say even the art, to this point, could further support the thought. First off, at the beginning of Majora's Mask, Link sets off to find Navi. While on his travels (presumably in the lost woods) he is jumped by the Skull Kid, and then the events of Majora's Mask happen. At the end of the game, the last we see of Link is him riding off on Epona in the forest. There is a lot of speculation around where he is, but I honestly feel we can safely assume he returned to where he was prior to being in Termina. That being the case, where does he go from there?
Well, one can assume that he is back on his quest to find Navi and that would leave things pretty wide open. Some of the evidence to suggest this could indeed be the fairy/spirit/female that is featured in the art that Nintendo showed us at E3. I am not so sure it is that farfetched to think that the girl in the picture is indeed Navi, all grown up. In her full form she prefers to be called Adelle, as her past life is just that, a past life. Now, as the rumors suggest, this game would take place outside of Hyrule... at least party. This fits well into a post Majora's Mask world, because we really have no idea where Link was heading or if he found Navi at all. A post Majora's Mask world could, essentially, be anything. If Nintendo ever wanted a chance, just one shot, to try and create a new vast world that wasn't Hyrule, this could certainly be it.
The one thing I take issue with in the rumors themselves is the village he lives in and how there is a boy that looks up to him. If this is indeed the "Hero of Time", then he doesn't need a crash course in starting out as a nobody again. He already is a somebody, so having just a single boy look up to him makes it feel like either he is a nobody in this new land... or something along the way got fudged up. In either case, since Twilight Princess is often placed next on the child timeline, Zelda Wii would need to end in a way that would suggest the events in Twilight Princess. Minimally, it would have to end in a fashion that leads back to Hyrule itself.

This new land obviously would not contain the Master Sword. That sword is still in the Temple of Time, located back in Hyrule. There would still be question as to how Ganondorf was stopped, but that could also be what this game is. Without Link letting Ganondorf into the sacred realm, he isn't nearly as powerful as he use to be. One thing that he still could do, however, is muster an army to invade Hyrule. If this game takes place 10 or so years after Majora's Mask, we could be seeing Ganondorf's army then invading this new land.
That would set the plot up to essentially fight back the invasion via various dungeons, and then work your way back to Hyrule to save your homeland. This could markedly also mean that Zelda playing the role of Sheik could return, and then everything could get linked into time travel. This time around, Time Travel may refer more to the use of the Ocarina itself, just like in Majora's Mask.
So here is the big picture: Link travels off to a new world where he finds Navi. As they grow up together, she wishes to be called Adelle, and grows much fonder of her bigger form. While all this is going on and Link is simply living his life, Hyrule is invaded completely by Ganondorf. He then marches his army into the new world, which jolts Link's memory that he was brought back to prevent exactly what had already happened... yet this time it happened without his help. This could set the story up for a tale of greatness, that would draw the entire Ocarina of Time crowd back to Zelda, while giving them a whole new world to play with.
The chances of this being true? Slim to none. It's just food for thought really. Even if it turns out true that Link is, once again, The Hero of Time... it could simply imply a direct follow up on the Adult Timeline, or possibly even The Hero of Time being reborn at a later date. In the end, no one really knows but Nintendo. It's just fun to think of all the possibilities you can build off of these rumors. Let's assume, even if for a moment, that the rumors are true. What then would you imagine this next game to be?

*sighs* Where is the credit for the artist who drew that? Do you even get permission to use those pictures?
After all this "leaked info", i had just felt nintendo could come up with practically anything, yet i like to think this "hero of time" might be the same link in oot and MM, yet the same warrior who taught link the sword techniques in TP, you know... the skeleton warrior has his own sword, a mirror like shield and even stands the same as link did in OOT and MM, making me think about the fate of the hero of time and his connection with the future heroes of hyrule.
This sounds great........ If it is true, then i would certainly be happy.
Bringing back the Hero of Time for a direct sequel would be very, very unlike Nintendo, but nothing would make me happier than to see it happen.
Nyeh... I would actualyl prefer it, if the game was a sequel to Twilight Princess that takes place several hundred years after it, similar to Spirit Tracks to Wind Waker.
But this doesn't sound bad, either. I guess it would be good like that, too.
I think it would be great if they made the fierce deity as the main enemy in this one. Maybe finding the mask at the end of MM some how released him or weakened the seal on him. Then maybe he forces Ganondorf to work for him. I also think you should travel between Hyrule and the lands from MM and the oracle games and maybe some new lands too.
lets see, 2004 everyone was begging for a remake/sequal to OOT. 2006 nintendo gave you one and everyone said it was crap how it was too much like OOT. for years everyone has been saying how MM is the ultimate Zelda game, now you all hope this new zelda is a sequal/copy of majora's mask, twilight princess didnt really work out like everyone was hoping when they found out it was so much like OOT. Does everyone really think nintendo should go back and make a game heavily influenced by MM. Everyone will just be pissed off that its "too much like MM" "why cant nintendo be original" I hope its nothing like Majora's Mask that game was garbage anyway. Also everyone was mad how Twilight Princess Hyrule was old and used to death, we have already seen terminia there shouldnt be a rehash of it, judging from nintendo history its not going to be what we want unless its an all new game,world, charecters
Honestly, I really hope that at some point, not necessarily in this game (but maybe the next one) Hyrule floods.
@Ninjacat - Mouse over the image, credit is clearly given for the art.
@Really, TP is not a sequel to OOT, unfortunately. It happened hundreds of years later. If it was a true sequel, it would be the same Link FROM Ocarina of Time. Twilight Princess is as much of a sequel to Ocarina of Time as The Wind Waker is. In the sense that it's not, it just happened after the events of OOT... like everything else.
So, no, TP was not the sequel we were asking for. Fans weren't even asking for a sequel. We were asking for Ocarina of Time all over again... but better. That is what we did get: TP is BETTER then OOT, and it's essentially the same sort of game. However, as the fans found out, it wasn't what we wanted, which coined the phrase "fans don't really know what they want".
lol The Legend of Zelda: 'The Hyrule Fantasy' Fantasy.
Also, time travel? Are you hoping for ANOTHER timeline split so it connects right to ALttP? lol
@thelightarrow
Um, I mentioned time travel like in Majora's Mask.
Not sure how that creates a timeline split, and it wasn't the time travel itself that even created the split. It was Zelda deciding in the end that you needed to go back to being a kid again. You didn't really get a say in the matter. The traveling back and forth 7 years didn't create the split, Zelda herself did.
There has never been a direct 3quel (one link, 3 games). Zelda has always been in pairs. THIS IS NOT ALLOWED!
Ps. Spirit tracks is non-canon if it never gets a sequel and if the sequel doesn't contain Ganon and dodogongo. Every link who fights Ganon Gohma, or Dodongo must fight all three!
Yeah this does sound pretty freakin awesome, but Im not sure I want to go back before Twilight Princess, I want to see the Future! But THANK YOU GOD that it isn't in Hyrule. Hyrule was Fun the other 12 Times we had to Visit it, but I've always wondered "what else is in the World of Zelda"? The oonly otherthing we've seen is Termina and that's technically in a parrellel world to Hyrule. I'm happy that Twilight Princess was in Hyrule (I love that Game!) but we now what hyrule truly is and it's time for sonmething new. I think it would be cool though if the Hero of Time was somehow stuck thousand of years into the future and the story was him trying to save that time and return home. I gave a feeling though that he will probably be trying to travel into specific periods of time throughout the game. I don't know but I'm excited. Then again this is just a Rumor and nothing else, if it's true or not I'm happy either way.
P.S. To some of you this probably won't be set in Termina but take place 15 years after Majoras Mask.
If it turns out to be the Hero of Time, the game will probably be almost ten years after Majora's Mask, since it was said that Link in this game will be almost an adult.
Excuuuuuse me princess, but I think I'll wait on official confirmation before contributing to blatantly false rumors somebody made up on a whim on 2ch of all places.
Don't mind me! I'll just be over here writing a REAL 100% true Zelda Wii leak that I learned through my dad who works at Nintendo.
TWW was going to be OoT/MM's direct sequel. So was TP. Turns out they both turned into something different. Maybe just once they'll go through with the Hero of Time's 3rd adventure.
The rumors seem kinda....wrong though.
Haha I love these rumors. They're just their to wet our appetites for the real things. Keeps all our imaginations atwitter. But to say anything at all on what the next zelda could be I'll just base it on the one fact definite fact we do know and that is the official artwork they released.
Its obvious that Link is protecting the girl in the picture. He has no sword but he carries a shield. His back is towards her, seemingly shielding her from whatever is creating the crimson light from the cave he stands before. From her stance and build she is assuredly not made for fighting. The position of her knees accentuates that fact to a tee. She's almost hiding behind Link, afraid for herself to be revealed. Obviously she holds some great importance to Link and vice versa. To compare this to artwork of say TP. Those images are more dramatic and action toned. Where as here we have a picture of Link as the protector. A shield for those who can't protect themselves. That in itself could be the gist of the next story on a minute basis. But of course don't take this as fact. It is only my interpretation of the art given to us. Its just seems vary blatant to me and I find it hard to believe she has anything to do with the master sword.
NinjaCat I think you will find that the picture in question is from the intro video of super smash brother melee.
Blank, he is talking about the art at the top. It's from a guy on deviant art, and if you mouse over it, it is indeed credited. He was just worried that we are "stealing art". As it is, A can never really just say something positive.
I dont think that chicks Navi i dont even believe he was looking for her in MM. I think she left because Link didn't need her any more so she left, Why would she leave at the end of oot other wise. Link left because he was probly wanted to go on another adventure or see more of the world other then hyrule. Think about It the kid lived in a forest his hole life until one day he has to go and save the world. being amazed by that he wants to go see whats out side of hyrule. ( Or even hes not the same link from oot. I know theres the OoT and if there was aliner timeline it would explain why Link did nothing until he was unfrozen while young link was still running around. but who said that it was the same Link or even took place right after the events of oot. Not to say its doesn't take place after oot?) All im saying is he didnt go to Termina to look for Navi and that chick isnt gona be Navi and this game should be a prequel to TP it would fill a gap in my time Line"S" theory.
@triforceangel
ughhh @ the beginning of MM it says that link is searching for a valuable friend, and then you hear the sound of a fairy flying ....
doesn't mean its Navi that sound coulda been one of the skull kids fairie. But I believe your words cuz its been like 2 years since i last restarted MM so yah I'm Probably wrong. But the point still is he didnt go to Termina to look for her he went because the skull kid dragged him there. even tho thats wasnt what i was trying to prove.
@DJ So yah I guess I was wrong sorry about that haven't seen that b4 or at least in forever since i hardly play it and last time i had a game already started and i don't pay attention to cut scenes anymore so yah missed that.
@Satar Gaeoedoae
Is this not a 3 episode adventure?
The Wind Waker >> Phantom Hourglass >> Spirit Tracks.
(Same characters)
@Dragonos
No, ST Link is a different Link (it takes place 100 years after PH)
wow cool lol but we actually do know what happened to ganon in the child timeline, it shows it at the end i think. He gets arrested or someting. but w/e that doesnt really mean anything.
