Hey, everyone. We just wanted to let you know that Dec. 31 was the last day that The Hero of Time was available for viewing. We came to an agreement with Nintendo earlier this month to stop distributing the film. In the spirit of the holiday season they were good enough to let us keep the movie up for you to watch and enjoy through the end of 2009, but not past 2009. We understand Nintendo's right to protect its characters and trademarks and understand how in order to keep their property unspoiled by fan's interpretation of the franchise, Nintendo needs to protect itself -- even from fan-works with good intentions.
This has been quite an adventure for us and we have a real sense of peace bringing the project to a close. Between the screenings and the online release many of you were able to see the film and we hope to not have only inspired those of you that live, breathe and dream Zelda but we also hope to have inspired all of you aspiring filmmakers out there! Thank you again for all your patience with the project and we hope you had as much fun watching our movie as we did making it. Thanks for all your wonderful messages of encouragement and support! I'm sure our next project will be right around the corner! No, it's not Majora's Mask : )
You know, the world has known about this project for sometime, and it was being shown in select theatres across the nation. So my deal is why did it take them so long to crush the project? If they were going to do this all along they should of crushed it years ago and saved everyone the trouble.

doubtful on the LoN front. THe show is 100x more popular then this movie project ever was and Nintendo has yet to say anything. I think it's the fact it's an obvious parody, rather then a direct interpretation, that allows it to slide by. Hero of Time was an interpretation of OoT - LoN is simply a parody.
The fact that Nintendo allowed the theater showings and online viewing of the movie for two weeks makes me think that they wanted to give the movie a chance, as small as it was, instead of crushing it before it was completed. I'm not saying it was nice of them (two weeks? That's just too short a time), but it might be a possibility.
Anyway, it was the obvious result. Nintendo is extremely jealous of their IP, so this should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone.
On that thought, though, couldn't they have spoken to someone at Nintendo, try and get permission or something? I'm sure it'd be really difficult, but if you're going to do an entire film, you can try.
Hahahaha. Finally. that's what you get for creating a shit film which dipicts a goron as a fat bloke.
Dear Nintendo,
Thank you for putting an end to that piece of shit.
For those who liked the movie and want Nintendo to allow it's distribution again or if you are a lover of fan work in general and want to make a statement to companies that we are the reason they exist, go to http://www.thesacredrealm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=10496 or join the Facebook group titled "Nintendo Boycott - Hero of Time Removal" and show your support. For haters, please show that you have a life and leave us alone. I don't mind that you don't like the film. Just don't bother us that do.
Sorry for the double post. Never mind the original link. Go to http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=245729302304 and join the group to be counted amongst the number. You can go to the link above if you want to learn about the cause without joining the group.
dear sage robert,
based on the fact that it's probably less likely for some one creating a fanfilm having a life then someone who doesn't create an entire fanfilm,
"For haters, please show that you have a life and leave us alone." Has about as much grounds as me saying that you are, infact, a cocksucker.
KaGa.
Ps. scratch that last bit, it's actually starting to look like you are a cocksucker.
Well,
I wanted to see the movie badly...
They should at least upload the video in their YouTube account...
But wow... If I was in a Zelda Movie, it would be a dream come true. I want to get the role of Zelda id=f there will be a movie. I would do anything. Even dye my hair.

Ooooh...that smarts.

Two possibilities: 1) it was so good that Nintendo thwarted it became too popular, as they now plan to readapt it for a worldwide release. Or 2) it was so god-awful that for the better good of themselves, their licenses, their fans and anyone else who wander into that slop, Nintendo used their property rights to save us all from it. I'll leave it up to the individual viewer to dertermine whether it's the former or the latter...
Kudos to the folks that put all their time, effort and energy into this thing, but "that's business, babe!" I wonder if this reflects a renewed interest by Nintendo on curbing fan rip-offs -- could this spell the end for Legend of Neil too?!?!
