Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian believes that a 2009 release of the next Zelda installment would be likely to happen, as it would help boost game sales.
"In a note to investors this morning, Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian listed a slate of 22 games that could potentially help drive a 5 percent growth in game sales for 2009. In addition to heavily anticipated titles like Resident Evil 5 and Starcraft II, Sebastian included a new Princess Peach adventure, and an as-yet unannounced Zelda game."
Source.
Sebastian may be in a marketing business, but we haven't heard much at all about the next game, not to mention Nintendo's habit of delaying anticipated games. Anything is possible I guess.
I must apologize for my recent extended absense caused by the end of the semester, practice, etc. I hope and intend to be around more often especially in the next couple of weeks!

Glad to have you back!
Just recently started reading some of the rumours and hype about the next Zelda game, and just 10 minutes ago I finished Twilight Princess.
I'm just sitting here completely in awe. We need more - soon!!
Dude's right, new Zelda probably in 2009. Nintendo announced at E3 that their Zelda and Mario teams are hard at work. Well no duh, a team that works on a specific series of games doesn't go and stop making these games. Twilight Princess came out at the end of 2006 and Miyamoto said that it takes 2-3 years for a Zelda game to get made.
Also i think Nintendo has a new policy of announcing a game only 5 months or so before it gets released. Such as Animal Crossing City Folk, Announced at E3, we didn't see anything about it before that then AC:CF came out a couple months later. This could be much better cause as my friends and myself saw with Smash Bros. Brawl, the hype over the game we had went up, died down, went back up, died down again. If Nintendo only gives us a short amount of time to learn about something the hype we have about a game will be constant.
I know long post, blargh, i got carried away.
you better be >:|
